JEROME GELB's Bio:

Dr Jerome Gelb was raised in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his Medical Degree at Melbourne University and after two years as an Intern and Junior Resident, commenced five years of Psychiatric Residency based at the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre in Heidelberg, Melbourne. He completed a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Simultaneously with his Fellowship, Dr Gelb completed a Masters of Medicine Degree in Psychiatry at Melbourne University by three years coursework and a clinical research based Thesis. He entered Private Practice in General Psychiatry and regularly attended the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre as a Consultant Psychiatrist to the Crisis Service. He also taught Psychiatry to fifth year medical students for seven years. Dr Gelb has developed a special interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and concentrated on providing assessment, treatment and advocacy for VICTORIA and QUEENSLAND'S large Veteran community, initially with Vietnam Veterans and more recently with Veterans of Australia's deployments to Cambodia, Rwanda, Somalia, East Timor, Solomon Islands, Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr Gelb has assisted thousands of Veterans dealing with the effects of operational service and with the complex and increasingly legal entitlement and compensation systems of the Department of Veterans Affairs. In doing so, Dr Gelb works with Veterans' Advocates from all over the nation.
